New Fortnite Update Today 24.40 (3.90) Patch Notes – 17th May 2023

Epic Games will be releasing a brand new Fortnite update today, 24.40 (3.90). Here are the early patch notes for today’s release.

Two weeks ago, Epic Games released the third major update for Fortnite chapter 4 season 2. The update included another Star Wars collaboration with new cosmetics being made available to purchase from the item shop.

We also had a new set of quests for the collaboration called “Find The Force”. Players earned Galactic Reputation upon completing these quests which provided players with the chance to unlock free cosmetic rewards.

Players could also purchase the premium reward track that provides additional Star Wars-themed cosmetics including Darth Maul and two different Storm Trooper outfits.

Since then we’ve only had a patch release that addressed stability issues that were introduced with the release of the v24.30 patch update.

However, we knew we would be getting a new Fortnite update today, 24.40 (3.90). It’s the penultimate update of the season with chapter 4 season 3 expected to release on June 9th if there aren’t any unforeseen delays.

With that said, we know what we can expect to see in today’s 24.40 update, and we’ve listed everything we know so far about today’s update below.

Fortnite Server Scheduled Downtime Today

As we’ve come to expect, Epic Games will take down the Fortnite servers today (16th May, 2023), in order to prepare them for the 24.40 update.

The Fortnite Status Twitter account announced that server downtime will start at 3 AM ET / 8 AM BST with matchmaking being disabled shortly beforehand, likely thirty minutes prior.

As usual, Epic hasn’t announced how long the servers will be down. However, we’d expect them to be down for at least a couple of hours, which means the servers should be back online at roughly 5 AM ET / 10 AM on May 17th, 2023.

Here’s the tweet from the official Fortnite Status Twitter account:

UPDATE: The v24.40 update has been delayed.

We’ll update this article when the servers are officially back online.

Fortnite Update 3.90 (24.40) Patch Notes – 17th May 2023

Ranked Play

We already knew the 24.40 Fortnite update would include the release of the first Fortnite Ranked mode. Epic teased the release of ranked in a tweet and later released a blog post with further information.

The 3.90 (24.40) update includes ranked for both the normal Battle Royale and the Zero Build game modes. There are a total of eight ranks which are listed below:

  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Elite
  • Champion
  • Unreal

Here’s a look at the rank icons:

Fortnite Ranked Mode Icons

The release of Ranked means the popular Arena mode will be permanently disabled once the servers are back online once v24.40 has been released.

Epic has also announced materials caps will be decreased from 999 to 500 with today’s update.

Fortnite X Spider-Verse Collaboration – Miles Morales Skin

Fortnite data miners leaked that a Fortnite x Spider-Verse collaboration would be coming at some point in the future.

It looks like that collaboration will go live at some point in the next week. If leaks are correct, we should see 2 skins make their way into the item shop to purchase along with the release of new Web shooters.

Miles Morales Fortnite Skin

Like the Star Wars collaboration, the Spider-Verse collaboration will include challenges that players can complete, but there’s no word on if any free cosmetic rewards will be available.

A tweet teasing the collaboration all but confirms that there will be a Miles Morales Fortnite skin, again, something that was leaked months ago by data miners.

Fortnite x Spider-Verse Collaboration

We can expect the usual leaks from today’s 24.40 (3.90) Fortnite update including the June Crew skin, event leaks if there’ll be an event to conclude the season, cosmetic leaks, and the final set of quests being leaked.

We’ll be covering everything from today’s new Fortnite update over here, so be sure to head there during downtime.

Fortnite Ranked Mode Coming Soon – Confirmed Release Date

Epic Games have teased the release of a Fortnite ranked game mode. Here’s everything we know so far including a release date.

With the new season of Fortnite just a few weeks away and with just one or two major updates left to be released before then, players have been wondering what’s in store for the game for the rest of the season.

Originally, players were expecting a first-person mode to release with the launch of chapter four season two. However, the leaks were incorrect and there’s still no new information regarding the highly sought-after game mode.

Fortnite First Person Mode

However, we’ve seen the release of UEFN which will only improve in the coming months, but players are always looking forward to the next major Fortnite release.

Epic Games decided to send the Fortnite player base into a frenzy with a teaser posted on social media that all but confirms a Fortnite ranked game mode will be coming soon.

Here’s what we know about the Fortnite ranked mode including a release date.

Fortnite Ranked Mode

Epic Games posted a short teaser video on social media which includes a number of different icons. The caption for the post is:

“A new way to grab the Victory Royale is coming… Will you rise through the ranks?”.

The tweet all but confirms a ranked mode will be coming to Fortnite Battle Royale. Some of the popular leaders are suggesting that this could be for a new driving mode that was leaked from the v24.30 files.

Driving Mode Fortnite

Based on the wording of the tweet, there’s a chance there could be a ranked Fortnite driving mode. Earning a Victory Royale in Fortnite is the same, regardless of whether it’s ranked on not.

That suggests the way the caption is worded points towards a Fortnite-ranked driving mode. There’s also a chance that the popular Arena mode could be getting an overhaul.

With Activision finding success with the Call of Duty ranked multiplayer and more recently, the Warzone ranked playlist, there’s a chance this is Epic’s response to those game modes.

For those curious, here are all the Ranks that were teased in the trailer:

Ranked Fortnite Mode Release Date

We’ve seen a handful of articles stating there’s no official release date for the Fortnite Ranked Mode or that it won’t be available until the new season.

However, based on the in-game news feed, the Fortnite ranked mode will release on May 16th, 2023. That falls on a Tuesday when the next major Fortnite update, v24.40, will release.

Here’s an image from the in-game news feed that confirms the Fortnite Ranked mode release date:

Fortnite Ranked Game Mode Release Date

It’s unlikely Epic Games will change the release date of the Fortnite ranked mode, but if they do, we’ll update this article.

Let us know in the comments section below if you’re looking forward to seeing the ranked mode live in-game.

New Fortnite Update Today 3.89 Patch Notes – 9th May 2023

Epic Games have pushed out a brand new Fortnite update today, 3.89, on several platforms. Here are the patch notes.

Prior to last week’s v24.30 Fortnite update, we hadn’t had a major patch release for three weeks when the usual cycle of releases is every two weeks.

However, for most of the player base, the update was worth it. The much leaked Fortnite x Star Wars collaboration went live which includes new cosmetics, a rewards pass to earn cosmetics including Darth Maul, and the return of Star Wars items.

Lightsabers are back in the game along with the other weapons we’ve seen released in the past. Unfortunately, we still don’t have a pickaxe lightsaber, but players can pick up skins including Anakin Skywalker, Padme, and the 501st and 212th Stormtroopers.

The v24.30 Fortnite update also included force training that allows players to train in order to get abilities including sprinting faster and the ability to double jump while your lightsaber is equipped.

Players can also lift and throw objects from the environment and hurl them at players. If you accept Anakin Skywalker’s training, you’ll be able to pull objects and players towards you.

With last week’s update, players weren’t expecting to receive a notification to download the latest version of Fortnite, 3.89. Here’s what you need to know about the May 9th, 2023 update.

Fortnite Update 3.89 Patch Notes – 9th May 2023

Epic Games announced on the official Fortnite Status Twitter account that they released a maintenance Fortnite update (3.89) on May 9th, 2023.

The new update is available to download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and Android.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing new that’s been added today, and the new release only addresses stability issues that have been plaguing the game for the past couple of weeks.

Fortnite Update today 3.89

With the new season of Fortnite a month ago, Epic will release one or two more major updates before then with the next update scheduled for next Tuesday.

Is Goku Black Coming to Fortnite? Goku Day Release Date

New leaks point towards a Goku Black Fortnite skin coming to the game. Here’s what we know.

Since their first collaboration back in Fortnite chapter 1 season 3, Epic Games has continued to build on their metaverse, especially in the last couple of years.

A handful of collaborations stretch beyond just having cosmetics available in the item shop. The most recent collaboration with Star Wars includes quests that provide players with free cosmetics.

There’s also a premium rewards track for the Star Wars collaboration that’s available for 1,000 V-Bucks that will provide access to Darth Maul and other cosmetics not available in the free rewards track.

We usually get a few collaborations each season, so we’re expecting a couple more before the end of the current season. As usual, data miners have provided some information for the next collaboration.

If leaks are correct, there will be another Fortnite x Dragon Ball collaboration. Here are the details we have so far.

Goku Black Fortnite

According to a reliable data miner and leaker, G Matrix Games, there are textures in the current Fortnite files for a Goku Black Fortnite skin.

The model is different from the current Son Goku outfit that was released with the first Dragon Ball x Fortnite collaboration.

Goku Black Fortnite Skin

It also looks like there’s a style for Goku Black that’s Super Saiyan Rosé. Along with the finding of the new skin, there’s a chance we could see a remodel of the original Goku skin, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Along with the new outfit, a Dual-Wield pickaxe will be released alongside an Emote and Wrap.

When is Goku Black Coming to Fortnite? Release Date

It’s likely that the Goku Black Fortnite skin and the Super Saiyan Rosé style will be available to purchase on Goku Day, which is on May 9th.

Super Saiyan Rose Goku Fortnite Style

If that’s the case, we should get confirmation or a teaser posted by Epic Games before the release date.

Fortnite Find the Force Star Wars Event: All Quests, Rewards, Cosmetics

Here’s everything you need to know about the Fortnite Star Wars “Find the Force” event including all the cosmetic rewards available.

Epic Games released a major Fortnite update today after three weeks, v24.30. We knew what to expect in today’s patch with Epic announcing a Star Wars x Fortnite event last week.

However, players weren’t aware of the extent of the latest collaboration with Star Wars. There are four new Star Wars skins along with other cosmetics available to purchase in bundles or individually.

There’s also a Find the Force Fortnite event tab. The tab explains the event, links to the quests, and provides a look at all of the cosmetic rewards that are available.

Here’s the list of current quests available along with all the cosmetics that are unlockable during Find the Force.

The Force Within Fortnite Quests

The Force Within is the first set of Star Wars-themed quests that are currently available to complete. Here’s a list of the quests:

  • Land during Find the Force (5)
  • Learn Force abilities at Rift Gates in different matches (3)

Galactic Reputation was added as part of the Find the Force Fortnite Star Wars event. It provides players with the chance to unlock certain cosmetic rewards during the event.

In order to earn Galactic Reputation, players need to complete the challenges above.

Find the Force Fortnite Rewards

There are both free and premium rewards in the Find the Force event. The premium rewards pass costs 1,000 V-Bucks to unlock, but you’ll still need to earn Galactic Reupation in order to unlock them.

Fortnite Darth Maul, Padme, Clone Trooper, Anakin Skywalkers Fortnite Skins Revealed

Data miners have leaked the Fortnite Star Wars skins from the v24.30 update. As expected, both Darth Maul and Padme will be available to purchase from the item shop.

It’s been three weeks since the last major Fortnite update. However, players have been happy to wait for today’s v24.30 update thanks to the collaboration that was announced by Epic Games last week.

As expected, during downtime for today’s update, data miners have leaked the new Star Wars Fortnite skins. There’s a total of four skins that will be available to purchase from the item shop.

Here’s a look at all of the new Star Wars skins thanks to popular data miners ShiinaBR and Hypex.

Clone Trooper Fortnite Star Wars Skin

Epic has decided to release two different Clone Trooper skins, both of which can be purchased from the 501st and 212th Battalion Trooper Pack along with a Clone Trooper Wrap Pack.

Clone Trooper Fortnite Skins

Anakin Skywalker Fortnite Skin

Epic Games announced the latest Star Wars x Fortnite collaboration by posting an image of the Anakin Skywalker skin. However, we now know that back bling, pickaxe, glider, wrap, and spray are part of the set.

Padmé Amidala Skin

One of the skins we weren’t expecting Epic to release was a Padmé Amidala outfit. The Padmé bundle includes a glider, pickaxe, and a back bling.

Padme Fortnite Skin

Fortnite Darth Maul Skin

It’s unlikely anyone expected Epic Games to release a Darth Maul skin in the v24.30 update but here we are. It’s likely this will be the go-to Fortnite Star Wars skin for the next few weeks.

Here’s a close-up of the Darth Maul Fortnite skin:

Here’s a look at more of the skin from the Star Wars Fortnite promo asset:

How to get Darth Maul in Fortnite

Based on the information the data miners have provided, it looks like Darth Maul will be the only skin not available to purchase from the item shop.

Instead, it appears as though it will be a reward at the end of the current season, possibly an extra Battle Pass rewarded or a crew reward.

UPDATE: It looks like it’ll be part of the Find the Force event pass.

The other cosmetics will be available to purchase from the item shop as soon as downtime is over for the 24.30 update. It’s likely they’ll be available to purchase for the next week or so.

Fortnite Star Wars 24.30 (3.88) Update Patch Notes: Event Details & Server Downtime (2nd May, 2023)

Here’s everything you need to know about today’s (May 2nd, 2023) Fortnite 24.30 (3.88) update including the Star Wars collaboration event.

Epic Games usually release a new major Fortnite patch update every two weeks. However, this hasn’t been the case in chapter 4 season 2.

The last major release, 24.20, was released more than three weeks ago. However, we did get a content update last week which saw the old SMG being vaulted with the legendary variant being made available.

Players haven’t been too concerned with the lack of major Fortnite updates this season. That’s mainly in part to the upcoming Star Wars x Fortnite collaboration that was leaked by data miners a few weeks ago.

However, Epic Games confirmed the latest Fortnite x Star Wars collaboration in a tweet, confirming an Anakin Skywalker skin would be coming to the game.

Star Wars Fortnite Anakin Skywalker Skin

With the v24.30 (3.88) Fortnite update now being confirmed by the official Fortnite Status Twitter account, we can take a look at what we can expect from the latest release.

Fortnite Update 24.30 Server Downtime Time (05/02/23)

Whenever there’s a major patch being released, there’s always downtime in order to prepare the servers for the latest release.

Epic will always announce when server downtime is expected to take place and the 3.88 update is no different. The Fortnite Status Twitter account confirmed when downtime will begin.

The servers will go down for scheduled maintenance on May 2nd, 2023 at 3 AM ET / 8 AM BST / 9 AM CEST. Matchmaking will be disabled shortly before the given time, likely thirty minutes prior.

Here’s the official tweet from the status account:

Fortnite 24.30 Update Server Downtime

As with every release, Epic hasn’t announced how long the servers will be down or when we can expect them to be back online. However, based on previous updates this year, it’s safe to assume they’ll be down for at least two hours.

That means the servers should be back online at roughly 5 AM ET / 10 AM BST / 11 AM CEST. We’ll update this article when the game is back online.

Fortnite 3.88 (v24.30) Update Early Patch Notes – May 2nd, 2023

Star Wars Collaboration Event

The biggest talking point of today’s 3.88 (24.30) Fortnite update is Fortnite and Star Wars collaborating once again to celebrate Star Wars day.

Fortnite Star Wars Skins

We already know from Epic Games’ tweet that Anakin Skywalker will be available to purchase from the item shop. There has been no other official information regarding the collaboration.

However, thanks to data miners, we do know that there will be at least one more Star Wars Fortnite skin that’ll be added to the game in the new downloadable patch release.

Star Wars Weapons

We also know that Lightsabers will once again be making a return to the game alongside the E-11 blasters.

We’ll also be getting new “force” Mythic items along with a new blaster weapon being added to the loot pool. Apart from that, we don’t have any further information on the collaboration.

We’ll be covering all of the leaks from the 24.30 (3.88) update, so be sure to check back on this page for all the latest leaks, news, and guides.

Players have been waiting for the day that the Eren Jaeger Fortnite skin would be available to unlock from the Battle Pass tab.

Prior to the season starting, data miners leaked that Eren Jaeger would be in the Chapter 4 Season 2 Battle Pass, and it’s now available to unlock.

As expected, players will need to complete numerous challenges in order to unlock the Eren Jaeger skin along with other cosmetics in the set.

One of the quests requires players to find Jaeger’s Family Basement in Avil Square. For those of you that are struggling to complete this challenge, we’ve created a quick guide to help you out.

Prior to Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 release, there were several leaks in regards to what we could expect to see in the new season.

Unfortunately, players couldn’t unlock Eren Jaeger until today. Along with the outfit finally being available to unlock, other Attack on Titan cosmetics are available.

There are also two mythic items available, ODM Gear and Thunder Spears.
