We have our first Fortnite update of Chapter 6 today, v33.10 (1.000.161 / 4.50). Here are the patch notes for the release.
Epic Games released a new chapter just over a week ago, bringing a new map, movement mechanics, loot pool, and much more.
The release of OG Fortnite followed up the new season along with an update to fix minor bugs and improve the XP rate for the latest chapter.
Epic is releasing a brand new Fortnite update today, v33.10 (1.000.161 / 4.50) which will include the files for two major upcoming game modes.
Here’s everything you need to know about the December 10th, 2024 Fortnite update including server downtime information.
Is Fortnite Down Today? December 10th, 2024 Scheduled Server Downtime
Whenever Epic Games releases a major patch update, they need to take the servers offline for a few hours to prepare them for the latest game files.
Today’s update is no different and Epic Games announced the Fortnite servers will be down on 10th December 2024.
The Fortnite servers will go down at 4 AM ET with matchmaking being disabled shortly beforehand, likely 30 minutes prior.
Here’s the official tweet from the Fortnite Status account:
There’s never any information regarding when the servers will be back online. However, based on previous updates, it’s likely the servers will be back up at 7 AM ET / 11 AM GMT / 12 PM CET.
We’ll update this section of the article when the servers are back online.
Fortnite 10th December 2024 Update Patch Notes – v33.10 / 4.50 / 1.000.160
Perspective is everything.
Welcome to Ballistic, a new first-person Fortnite experience. Launching in early access on December 11 with Ranked + Unranked, Ballistic is an adrenaline-filled, round-based 5v5 competitive game mode where strategy, tactical teamwork, and individual prowess are essential for victory.
First Person, Full Impact
What does early access mean for Ballistic? Ballistic is launching with the Skyline 10 map, a starting set of weapons, and a limited number of items. Adjustments will be made beyond launch based on player feedback, in addition to major updates such as new maps, weapons, and features.
Ballistic is launching in early access with the Skyline 10 map, with more maps to come in the future.
Ballistic is a no-build mode. All saved presets from your Locker will carry over into Ballistic, which supports existing Fortnite Outfits, Back Blings, Kicks, Wraps, Sprays, and Emotes! Pickaxes, Contrails, Instruments, Vehicles, and Jam Tracks are not used/supported.
At launch, Ballistic will be available on all platforms and regions where Fortnite is supported, with the exceptions of South Korea and Russia. We’re working to make Ballistic available in both regions and will provide an update when we have news to share.
Round By Round
In Ballistic, players are sorted into two teams at the start of the match: attackers and defenders. Attackers aim to plant a reality-tearing Rift Point Device at one of two sites on the map, while defenders do their best to thwart the device from being planted and detonated.
The Rift Point Device
There are no respawns in Ballistic — a round is over if the Rift Point Device explodes, or either team is fully eliminated. After 6 rounds, players will swap sides, giving defenders a chance to be attackers and vice-versa. The game is over when either team has won 7 rounds total!
Go Ballistic!
You’ll start the game with a Ranger Pistol and 800 Credits. In Ballistic, Credits can be earned from scoring eliminations and planting the Rift Point Device, and spent within a match at the beginning of every round on additional items and weapons to bolster your chances of success.
Survive a round and you’ll keep all of your gear and shields for the next one, minus any consumable items you’ve used. You can drop weapons, smoke grenades, and flashbangs at any time for your teammates, and pick them up from eliminated players.
The Rift Point Device takes 45 seconds to detonate after it’s planted. If it’s successfully defended, you’ll want to move a fair distance away or run the risk of being eliminated in the device’s blast radius. Getting eliminated by the blast means losing any gear you may have.
You can check the scoreboard at any time during a Ballistic match to see how you and your teammates are doing, and to know what weapons and items your teammates are working with.
Assault rifles are the bread and butter of Ballistic, great for both medium and long range encounters.
Shotguns are your best friend when it’s time to get up close and personal.
Quick and deadly, submachines are a weapons class that pairs well with the element of surprise.
By the time you hear one of these go off, it may be too late.
Trusted, reliable, compact, and excellent when you’re on a budget.
Create a wall of smoke to obscure an enemy’s line of sight.
Toss in a Flashbang to blind opponents before skirmishing. But beware, you can blind yourself and your teammates if you’re not careful!
Flex Gadgets
Every Ballistic match starts with players on each team selecting one of five Flex Gadgets that they alone will be able to purchase and use during the match. Players can purchase the gadget they’ve selected and hold two of their Flex Gadgets in their inventory each round, which cannot be dropped or picked up from other players. When used correctly, Flex Gadgets can have a huge impact on the outcome of a round.
- Select the Proximity Mine to place a damaging mine down on the floor, wall, or ceiling to surprise an unsuspecting enemy. They can be picked back up and placed again and will explode if shot. Great for booby-trapping sites when defending!
- The Bubble Shield allows for throwing down a temporary protective bubble that’s impervious to bullets and projectiles such as grenades. It’s great for providing a shield for your team as you storm onto a site.
- The Recon Grenade gadget marks any enemies detected nearby where it’s thrown, even through walls. Throw a Recon gadget onto a site before entering to get a read on who might be waiting to get the drop on you.
- Old faithful! A thrown Frag Grenade will bounce and explode, dealing damage to nearby enemies. Careful — you’ll take damage from your own grenades (though your allies will not). Great for flushing players out from behind cover.
- The Impulse Grenade gadget is a disruptive tool that launches enemies and allies away. It has many creative uses, such as launching teammates onto a site from afar.
Unranked & Ranked
Unranked play offers a more casual Ballistic experience if you’re just looking to have fun with friends or try out the mode. This is a great place to practice your aim and get a feel for the Flex Gadgets. If a player drops from an Unranked match, another player will be added as a backfill. After an Unranked match ends, players have the option to remain on the same server.
Ranked is for those who want to test their talents against other players in a more competitive environment. Ranked matches will not backfill players should someone leave — if you leave a Ranked match, a rank penalty will be applied and you will not be able to join another match for a period of time.
Players who disconnect from a match have a 3-minute grace period to reconnect before the penalty is applied. More information can be found by clicking on your current rank on the bottom right of the screen while in the lobby for Ballistic, then selecting “Leaver Penalties”. These penalties may change over time to ensure that players who join a Ranked match play their best and stay for the whole match.
Unlike Ranked Battle Royale and Reload, matchmaking in Ranked Ballistic is based on the average rank of your party, not your party’s highest-ranking member. We’ll be closely monitoring feedback around Ranked matchmaking and will make adjustments as needed.
The winning team gains rank in Ballistic and the losing team loses rank. The exact amount each player gains or loses is influenced by the following (in order from most to least impactful): their current rank, rounds won, rounds lost, eliminations, and assists. AFK or leaving players will have an additional rank loss. Your rank will be protected if you lose your first match of the day.
Settings Options for Ballistic
Adjust your settings to fit your playstyle. New “Reticle & Damage Feedback” options have been added under Game UI in the Settings menu. You can now customize and set the following:
- Show Spread (First Person) – Toggle whether the reticle will expand to show your weapon’s spread.
- Show Recoil (First Person) – Toggle whether the reticle will move away from the screen center to show recoil.
Light the fuse. Ballistic launches in Early Access on December 11, 2024!
The world of LEGO® Fortnite was first assembled one year ago, and it’s grown a lot since then. We’re excited to share that LEGO Fortnite has a new name — LEGO Fortnite Odyssey!
When you head into Discover, you’ll see LEGO Fortnite is now its own unique category within Fortnite. There, you’ll find LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, LEGO Group-made islands, creator-made LEGO islands, and LEGO Fortnite Brick Life, a new social roleplay experience launching on December 12!
In LEGO Fortnite Odyssey the Storm King has thundered onto the scene in the survival mode’s latest update: Storm Chasers! With his storm-wild legion, led by Raven, the Storm King has everything he needs to complete his sinister quest to consume all. It’s up to you and your friends to stop him!
Find the Storm Chaser Village, meet new friends, and build up the strength to take down this electrifying evil. As you go about your journey, battle all-new foes, brave perilous dungeons, and build powerful new weapons using improved crafting mechanics.
Your Journey Begins With the Storm Chaser Village!
You’re not the only one trying to fight back against the Storm King… so are the Storm Chasers! You’ll find this heroic ensemble of do-gooders, including their determined leader Carl Ruckus and the big-brained Meteorologist Dr. Borrasca, taking cover in the Storm Chaser Village.
As you get to know the crew, they’ll give you goals to complete while you’re out on your adventures that’ll help you progress toward your ultimate goal of defeating the Storm King. Got various requests to complete? Keep track of your progress using your handy Journal! From here, you can also pin goals to your HUD to easily track them from across your current world.
Head Out Into the Storm
You’re gonna need more than an umbrella to deal with these storms. The Storm King’s invasion has warped the very fabric of reality, causing enormous storm systems to appear at random locations across the map!
There are tons of secrets waiting for those brave enough to venture into these shrouded areas… just try not to get zapped by Lightning Strikes as you explore.
You’ll find a Storm Dungeon at the center of the storms, each of which holds a fragment of the Storm King’s electrifying power at its core. Navigate your way through the dangers to strike a blow to his almighty influence, and get one step closer to liberating your world. Just be careful as the closer you get to the end, the bigger the dangers you’ll have to contend with!
Once you conquer a Storm Dungeon, the surrounding storm will disappear – meaning you’re free to explore the area without fear of being zapped. But it won’t take long for the Storm King’s thunderous might to recharge. After 24 hours, conquered Storm Dungeons are reborn with new pathways, dangers, and puzzles. Be prepared to conquer a new challenge every time!
Introducing the Villains!
Prepare to take on the Storm King’s Acolytes! This ferocious faction of fanatics is causing havoc throughout the worlds of LEGO Fortnite Odyssey. Keep your eyes peeled for the Acolyte’s most Elite units, who have special abilities granted to them by the villainous king himself. Be wary of the Storm Crawlers too, they give a nasty shock!
Raven
The Storm King’s right-hand man! Raven will appear somewhere within the world after you’ve helped the Storm Chasers significantly advance their village. Defeat this fearsome foe, and you’ll be able to break the arcane lock keeping a mysterious gateway at the centre of your world’s largest storm closed…
Raven
The Storm King
Send this menacing monarch back to his own dimension! Step through the gateway after taking down Raven and you’ll be teleported to the Storm King’s lair. This multi-stage boss battle will be the ultimate test of your wits, battle skills, and survival instincts — bringing along some friends for reinforcements is highly recommended.
Emerge victorious, and you’ll be well-rewarded for your heroic efforts with epic loot! Drops include the Thunderclap Blade, Cyclone Pickaxe, and Shatterhorn Fragments, which you can use to craft powerful weapons and improved tools. But the fight isn’t over just yet… After 24 hours, the Storm King will power back up! Gather your friends and take him down again to earn more rewards.
The Storm King
New Adventure? New Gameplay Mechanics!
The Storm Chasers Update comes with an electrifying number of gameplay improvements, from an overhaul of progression systems to all-new crafting systems.
Progress your adventure anywhere, anytime
From the dusty sands to the frozen wildlands — the enemy difficulty has now been equalized across biomes, giving you the freedom to take your adventure anywhere you choose! To improve balance further, the health and damage of enemies have also been adjusted across the board.
Component-based Crafting
Build your way out of any situation, with whatever you’ve got to hand. The Storm Chasers Update introduces Component-based crafting, meaning you’ve now got more flexibility to decide which materials you’d like to use to build your favorite weapons and tools. But think carefully, as the quality of the materials you decide to use when crafting will affect the attributes and rarity of the end result.
Several improvements have also been made to resource-gathering to make it more intuitive. Wood, Stone, Metal, Gem, and Rift are each assigned a Power Tier that conveys their rarity, with Wood being the lowest (Common) and Rift being the highest (Legendary).
The Legendary Forge
Build your ultimate end-game weapon! The Legendary Forge is an upgrade station you can build to boost your gear to new heights. Imbue a Tier 4 weapon or Tool with Rift Crystals, unlocking its yet-untapped potential. You must then use the Rifted item to increase the Rift energy flowing through it, until it evolves into its final form, unlocking hidden stats! The Storm King won’t know what hit him.
Down but Not Out
Peely is down, someone help him up! When you run out of health, other players and NPCs can now revive you and get you back into battle.
Vehicle-Guided Builds
Travel the world in style with these new guided Builds! The Lil’ Barge is just the thing for minifigures who prefer to keep dry while navigating the waters, while the speedy Storm Chaser will get you from A to B in no time. You can unlock these Builds by progressing through the Storm King’s Questline.
Bring along a friend with Couch Co-Op!
The Storm King will fall twice as fast with two heroes! LEGO Fortnite Odyssey is fully compatible with split-screen on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
Here’s a quick reminder on how to access split-screen in LEGO Fortnite:
- Start Fortnite and go to the LEGO Fortnite Lobby.
- Connect the second controller.
- Select the second player’s console account. (Note: Guest and Quick Play console accounts are not supported.)
- After picking a console account, Fortnite will automatically ask the player to link their Epic account. (If they link their Epic account, they can access their Locker Outfits, Passes, Quests, and other progress.)
- After the second player is logged into Fortnite, they will appear in the Lobby.
- Hold onto your bricks… Split-screen mode will automatically begin when you start LEGO Fortnite!
LEGO Pass: Chill & Thrill
Taking down the Storm King is thirsty work, so grab a refreshment at Peely’s Juice Bar! This Decor Bundle is just one of the oddities you’ll find to add to your Odyssey in the Chill & Thrill LEGO Pass!
The Chill & Thrill LEGO Pass will use the newly announced progression system. That means it’ll be included as part of Crew and will be progressed using XP acquired from any source across Fortnite! This pass will also have only one track, including free and premium rewards.
There are five Decor Bundles you can grab for free in the Chill & Thrill Pass, as well as two Loading Screens, three Player Banners, and the Raven’s Mausoleum Build. They say it’s where villains like to roost.
You’ll be able to unlock an additional 11 Decor Bundles by purchasing the Premium Reward Track upgrade for 1,400 V-Bucks, including the Lounge Tent and Arcade Tent! There are also extra Builds up for grabs, including the Main Stage Build as the final Premium reward in the Pass.
After purchasing the Premium Reward Track upgrade, you’ll instantly unlock the Raven Team Syd Outfit. Whether you’re using its LEGO Style or Fortnite Style, it’s hauntingly cheerful.
Heads-up! The LEGO Chill & Thrill Pass will be available to progress until March 11 at 4 AM ET. Its free rewards, premium rewards, and the Raven Team Syd Outfit reward are not exclusive to the Pass, as you may be able to purchase them in the Fortnite Shop later.
