Fortnite Update Today 4.10 Server Downtime, Patch Notes – 19 December 2023 (28.01.01)

Epic Games announced a brand new Fortnite update today, 4.10 (v28.01.01). The servers will go offline for scheduled maintenance, and here’s what to expect from the December 19th, 2023 release.

It’s been a week since Epic Games released the last major Fortnite update, 28.01, the first major release on Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground.

The update included the highly anticipated Fortnite Christmas Winterfest event that includes the return of certain items, new challenges, NPCs, and more.

As usual, there are a handful of free cosmetics that players can obtain daily without having to complete any of the Winterfest quests.

However, instead of opening presents from the Winterfest Cabin like we’re used to, players need to navigate to the quest tab and claim their free daily cosmetic gift.

Unlike in previous Winterfest events that required players to wait more than a week before getting their hands on one of the free skins, players got the Holiday Boxy skin and the Lego variant two days ago.

The Winterfest Bushranger skin is the other free skin that’ll be available at some point during the next couple of weeks.

With Epic Games employees set to take a well-deserved break this week, there wasn’t much expectation for any new Fortnite updates to be released until the new year.

With Epic included quests up until week 6, it seems unlikely there would be a new Fortnite update today, but Epic Games has announced that the v28.01.01 (4.10) update will be released today.

Here’s everything you need to know about today’s 19 December 2023 4.10 (v28.01.01) Fortnite update including if the servers will go down for scheduled maintenance and more.

Is Fortnite Servers Down Right Now? When Will They Be Back Up? 19 December 2023

Epic Games has pushed a few hotfix updates for both Battle Royale and Lego over the past couple of weeks, so it seemed unlikely there would be a new Fortnite update that required downtime.

However, Epic announced on the Fortnite Status Twitter account that the Fortnite servers will go down today, 19th December 2023 for scheduled maintenance.

The Fortnite servers will go down on December 19th, 2023, at 4 AM ET / 9 AM GMT / 10 AM CST. Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before the server downtime.

Here’s the official announcement from the Fortnite Status Twitter account:

Are Fortnite Servers Down Right Now 19 December 2023

Epic Games never states how long the Fortnite servers will be down. However, based on previous updates, we’re assuming the Fortnite servers will be back up at roughly 6 AM ET / 11 AM GMT / 12 PM CST on 19th December 2023.

We’ll update this section of the article when the Fortnite servers are back online.

Fortnite v28.01.01 (4.10) Update Patch Notes (12/19/23)

Don’t expect much in terms of new content from today’s v28.01.01 (4.10) Fortnite update. We know that this new release will address several issues that have plagued the game since the launch of the new chapter.

We also know there will be some gameplay changes that the player base has been crying out for including adjustments to movement.

Alongside the update announcement on the Fortnite Status account, Epic Games mentioned the new release on the main account.

They teased some gameplay improvement changes across the board including changes to movement.

There’s no specific information regarding the movement changes, but they tweeted a GIF of Tyler ‘Ninja’ Belvins’ infamous “I’m not seeing enough movement” clip which all but confirms movement changes.

Fortnite v28.01.01 Update Movement Changes

We’ll update this section of the article when Epic Games releases the full patch notes for today’s 4.10  (v28.01.01) Fortnite update.

There shouldn’t be any leaks from today’s release but if there are, we’ll be sure to cover them and anything else that’s new from the release.

How to Visit Crackshot’s Cabin When the Floating Loot island Appears Fortnite Location

Here’s how to complete the Visit Crackshot’s Cabin When the Floating Loot Island Appears Fortnite Winterfest 2023 quest.

The Fortnite Christmas event for 2023 is finally here. Earlier in the day, Epic Games announced the arrival of Fortnite Winterfest 2023.

There are some changes this year with the Cabin not making an appearance. Last year, the Winterfest Cabin provided a location for players to open a daily present.

Each present contained a free cosmetic item with the skins available after the first week and as the final present players could open.

This year, players can get their free cosmetics from the quest tab. However, players won’t need to complete any quests to obtain the free daily cosmetic.

However, if players complete 19 quests, they’ll unlock the free Snowglobe Smasher Pickaxe.

One of the quests available on day 1 of Winterfest 2023 requires players to Visit Crackshot’s Cabin When the Floating Loot Island Appears.

For those needing help, here’s the location of where you can find Crackshot’s Cabin on the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground map.

Where to Visit Crackshot’s Cabin Fortnite Map Location

To complete this challenge, you’ll need to visit Crackshot’s Cabin when the floating island appears on the Fortnite map.

The Floating Island spawns near the end of a match. Simply get onto the island to complete the quest as that’s where you’ll find Crackshot’s Cabin in Fortnite chapter 5.

There is no set location where you can find Crackshot’s Cabin on the Fortnite chapter 5 map as the island spawns at different locations on each map.

However, you’ll be able to see where the floating island and Crackshot’s Cabin will be as you’ll see a butterfly rift icon on the map as well as being able to see the rift before the island appears.

Crackshot's Cabin Fortnite Chapter 5 Map Location

Once the Floating Island appears, you can use any of the ziplines to get up to visit Crackshot’s Cabin.

You will complete the visit Crackshot’s Cabin when the Floating Loot Island appears as soon as you’ve ziplined up.

How to Visit a Ship It! Express Location in Fortnite

Here are the locations where players can visit a Ship It! location in Fortnite.

Epic Games released the Winterfest 2023 Fortnite Christmas event earlier in the day with a few changes from last year’s event.

There is no Winterfest cabin or presents to open that’ll contain cosmetic rewards this year. Instead, players can get their free cosmetics from the quest tab each day.

As with any Winterfest Fortnite event, there are several quests to complete. Although there aren’t many free rewards from completing the quests, players can still get season XP.

The Snowglobe Smasher Pickaxe is also available once players complete 19 quests.

Here’s what the pickaxe looks like:

The visit a Ship It! Express quest is very straightforward to complete. However, some players might not know where the Ship It! Express location is on the map.

How to Find Copper in LEGO Fortnite, Make Copper Bars

Here’s the location where players can find copper and how they can use it to make copper bars.

It’s been 5 days since Epic Games released the LEGO Fortnite mode after providing a glimpse of it during the Big Bang live event.

It’s safe to say the game mode has gone down as a huge success with a peak of over 2.4 million players on two occasions.

With a lot of players digging into a survival crafting game mode for the first time, many might be struggling with where to find resources, how to create certain objects, and how to upgrade tools without getting frustrated.

The further you get in the game, the more resources you’ll need to know how and where to find to continue to progress.

One of the items players need to find in LEGO Fortnite is copper. Copper can be used to create copper bars, and below, we’ve created a quick guide on how to get copper in LEGO Fortnite as well as how you can make copper bars.

Hot to get Copper in LEGO Fortnite – Guide Location

A lot of the resources players need at the mid-game stage are usually found in the desert. When you’re in the desert, you’ll take damage from the heat over time.

To have heat resistance and more health to stay in the desert biome for longer, players can create a snowberry shake.

To make a snowberry shake, players need two snowberries and one carton of milk. You can obtain snowberries from the snow biome.

Milk can easily be obtained on grassland by petting a cow. Eventually, they will drop milk.

You’ll need to head into a lava cave found in the Dry Valley Mesas to find copper in LEGO Fortnite. You’ll also need a rare pickaxe in order to get copper.

To create a rare pickaxe, you’ll need 3 flexwood rods and three sand claws.

To make a rare pickaxe, you’ll need to ensure that you’ve upgraded your crafting bench to rare or epic rarity.

Head into a lava cave and look for the browny-orange ores found on the wall as seen in the image below.

Copper is usually a little bit deeper to find the lava caves, unlike other materials like obsidian. Thankfully, you can get quite a lot of copper from a single ore.

How to find and get copper in LEGO Fortnite

Once you destroy the copper ores, you’ll see copper drop on the floor. This is the only way to find and get copper in LEGO Fortnite.

How to Create Copper Bars in LEGO Fortnite Guide

Once you’ve done the steps above to get copper in LEGO Fortnite, you can then make copper bars.

Creating copper bars is very easy to do. You’ll need a metal smelter to create copper bars in LEGO Fortnite.

How to Find Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite & Make Obsidian Slabs

Here’s where you can find Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite as well as how to create Obsidian slabs.

LEGO Fortnite has been out for a few days now and it’s gone down as a huge success with the player base.

On Saturday, LEGO Fortnite peaked at over 2.4 million concurrent players, and with Epic promising more updates, the future of the new game mode looks promising.

With LEGO Fortnite being so different from the other game modes available, some players are struggling with finding all the resources and items without a bit of help.

To create certain items or upgrade things, players will need to know where to find Obsidian and how to make Obsidian slabs.

Here’s a quick guide on how to get Obsidian and how to create Obsidian slabs in LEGO Fortnite.

How to get Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite – Locations Guide

To find Obsidian, you’ll need to know where the Dry Valley Mesas is and the desert caves.

Once you know the above, you’ll need to enter a desert cave. However, before you enter the caves, you’ll need to create a rare pickaxe to mine the Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite.

To create a rare pickaxe, players will need to have upgraded their crafting bench to rare rarity or higher.

We’d also recommend creating a Snowberry shake to increase your heat resistance and have extra health.

To create a snowberry shake, you’ll need 2 snow berries and 1 carton of milk.

You can get Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite by using your pickaxe on the dark shiny ores that you find on the ground and walls in the lava caves.

How to find Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite Locations

Once you break the Obsidian ore, you’ll see Obisidan drop to the floor which you can then pick up.

How to create Obsidian Slabs in LEGO Fortnite

To create Obsidian Slabs in LEGO Fortnite, players will need to use the Obsidian they obtained using the guide above and insert it into a stone breaker.

When you have Obsidian, you’ll have the option to create an Obsidian Slab.

How to create Obsidian Slabs in LEGO Fortnite

Once the stone breaker has been processed, you’ll have Obsidian Slabs.

How to Get Blast & Bright Core in LEGO Fortnite – Make a Metal Smelter

Here’s how players can find and get Blast Core and BrightCore in LEGO Fortnite to create a metal smelter.

LEGO Fortnite hasn’t been out long enough for players to know where to find all the different resources they need to build specific tools.

Players have been looking for guides on how to find things like how to get a certain material, how to find caves and much more.

With the game mode only four days old, that’s not surprising considering the sheer amount of content that Epic has added on day one.

With Epic promising to continue updating LEGO Fortnite, there will likely be plenty of guides released from the Fortnite Insider team over the next few months.

One of the tools players want to make is the metal smelter. However, to make one, players will need Blast Cores and Bright Cores.

Here’s a guide on the locations where players can find and get their hands on a Blast Core and Bright Core in LEGO Fortnite.

How to get Blast Core in LEGO Fortnite – Locations Guide

To get Blast Core in LEGO Fortnite, you need to go to a desert cave found in Dry Valley.

You won’t need to have any specific pickaxe or forest axe rarity to get Blast Core in LEGO Fortnite.

How to Get Blast Core in LEGO Fortnite Location

Blast Core can be obtained from the lava rollers that will explode. Once it explodes, it will provide you with a Blast Core.

Blast Core

How to get a BrightCore in LEGO Fortnite

Players can get a Bright Core from the desert cave. You’ll need a rare pickaxe to mine a Bright Core in LEGO Fortnite, which means you’ll need your crafting bench at rare rarity or above.

Bright Cores can be found near the lava in the desert cave. They look like mushrooms and can be found on the floor or the walls.

Here’s what a Bright Core looks like in-game:

How to Make a Metal Smelter in LEGO Fortnite

To create a Metal Smelter in LEGO Fortnite, you’ll need 15 Brightcore, 35 Obsidian Slab, and 3 Obsidian Slab.

Obsidian can be found in the desert cave and then inserted into the stone breaker. Once you have the above materials, you can make a Metal Smelter.

How to get Rough Amber and Where to Find Cut Amber in LEGO Fortnite Locations

Here’s how to get amber in LEGO Fortnite including the location of where to find rough amber and cut amber.

Epic Games has knocked it out of the park when it comes to the launch of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground.

Not only do we have a new map, items, movement mechanics, and more for Battle Royale, but Epic has also released three brand-new game modes.

The most popular of the three is the LEGO Fortnite game mode. LEGO Fortnite hit a new concurrent player peak yesterday with 2,447,763 players.

With players still exploring everything the new Lego game mode has to offer, some will struggle with finding certain resources on the map.

In order to upgrade villages and items, players need specific resources. Amber is one of those important resources in LEGO Fortnite.

Here’s how to get both rough and cut Amber in LEGO Fortnite.

Where to find Rough Amber in LEGO Fortnite Location

In order to find Rough Amber in LEGO Fortnite, you’ll need to head to Dry Valley.

The most popular location where you can find Rough Amber in LEGO Fortnite is on the side of the tops of mountains.

We’d recommend building yourself some stairs to get to the top of the mountains in the desert biome.

This is what Rough Amber looks like:

Find Rough Amber Locations LEGO Fortnite

To destroy the Amber ores seen in the image above, you’re going to need to use an uncommon pickaxe or any rarity higher.

Once you destroy the Amber ore, you’ll find the Uncut Amber.

Where to Find Rough Amber LEGO Fortnite

How to get Cut Amber in LEGO Fortnite

Thankfully, the process to get cut Amber in LEGO Fortnite is a lot easier than getting rough Amber.

Once you’ve followed the above steps and have rough Amber, to get cut Amber, you need to create a gem cutter unless you have one already.

Once you have your gem cutter, to get cut Amber in LEGO Fortnite, all you need to do is insert your rough Amber.

Once the process has completed, you’ll be left with your cut Amber.

How to Get/Build a Glider in LEGO Fortnite – Faster Map Travel

Here’s how to build a glider in LEGO Fortnite to help players travel around the map much quicker.

We’re four days removed from the introduction of the LEGO Fortnite game mode, and players are still finding new items and tools they can craft.

Although players were expecting a polished game mode from Epic Games, it’s unlikely many expected Epic to have so much content on release.

There’s a large catalog of items players can craft from axes to different tools to help them progress in their survival world.

One of the pain points in LEGO Fortnite is all the travel players will have to do to find different resources and locations including the caves found in different biomes.

However, LEGO Fortnite players have discovered that you can build a glider in LEGO Fortnite to travel around the map much faster than you can by foot.

Here’s a guide on how players can craft/build their own glider in LEGO Fortnite.

How to Build/Craft a Glider in LEGO Fortnite – Full Guide

Three things you’ll need to build a glider in LEGO Fortnite are a spinning wheel, a loom, and upgrade your crafting bench to rare or above.

You’ll want to start by hunting some spiders and eliminate them. You’ll want to do this to pick up the silk that they drop.

Next, you’ll want to find as many sheep as you can and pet them to pick up the wool that they drop.

Once you’ve done the above steps, you’ll want to use your spinning wheel and insert the wool and silk you’ve picked up from the spiders and sheep.

By inserting your wool and silk into the spinning wheel, you’ll receive wool thread and silk thread, two items you need to build and get a glider in LEGO Fortnite.

You’ll then need to head to the loom tool you should have created and insert the silk and wool threads that the spinning wheel created for you.

The above step will provide you with both silk and wool fabric.

Once you’re done with that, you’ll want to get some Flexwood. We have a dedicated guide on Flexwood over here.

Essentially, you’ll need a rare pickaxe and need to head into the Dry Valley Mases. Once there, you’ll want to find cacti and destroy them to get Flexwood.

If you don’t have a rare pickaxe, you have the option to create toy explosive barrels which require planks and blast powder to create.

Blast powder is dropped regularly by desert skeletons. Then, just head to a bunch of cactus in the desert and use the barrel to destroy the cactus and get yourself Flexwood.

Once you’ve done the above, you’ll want to put the Flexwood into a lumber mill and create flexwood rods.

Once you’ve done all the above steps, go to your crafting bench, and underneath “crafting recipes”, you’re going to find the glider item to build/craft in LEGO Fortnite.

Click the craft button, and you’ll create a glider in LEGO Fortnite.

How to use/deploy Glider in LEGO Fortnite and Travel Faster Around the Map

Once you’ve done everything listed above and you’ve got your Glider in LEGO Fortnite, you’ll need to go to a high location and jump.

Deploy Glider Lego Fortnite

As you’re in the air, jump again and you’ll be gliding around the map and traveling faster in LEGO Fortnite.

How to Find Dry Valley Mesas Desert Sand Biome in LEGO Fortnite – Map Guide

Here’s where players can find the Dry Valley Mesas Desert Location on the LEGO Fortnite map.

Epic Games has now released all three of their name game modes. Lego Fortnite was released on Thursdays followed by Rocket Racing on Friday and Fortnite Festival yesterday.

However, LEGO Fortnite is by far the most popular game mode, even boasting a higher player counter than any of the individual Battle Royale game modes.

It’s safe to say that the new LEGO game mode in Fortnite has gone down as a huge success, and there will be plenty of updates and new content to come.

However, it’s unlikely most casual players haven’t come close to experiencing all the tools, items, and other content the game mode has to offer.

It’s likely some players are struggling to find the desert sand biome (dry valley mesas), so we’ve created a quick guide on how and where to find it.

How to Find Dry Valley Mesas Desert Biome On LEGO Fortnite Map

The LEGO Fortnite map is fairly large. You won’t be able to see the four biomes on the LEGO Fortnite map until you’ve been in those biomes.

Players have been struggling to find the Dry Valley mesas (desert biome) in LEGO Fortnite.

However, most players can easily find the snow/ice biome as there are large snowy mountains players can easily find by looking around in the grassland area where players first spawn.

Dry Valley Mesas LEGO Fortnite Location

To find the Dry Valley Mesas (desert) in LEGO Fortnite, you’ll want to get a high vantage point in the grassland.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll want to focus on any direct where you can’t find any blue/icy mountains.

Simply head to the direct where you find no blue mountains and on the way, keep trying to find high vantage points and see if you can see any desert mountains.

desert biome LEGO Fortnite Map Location

Eventually, the grassland will end and you’ll enter the Dry Valley Mesad (desert) biome in LEGO Fortnite.

With each server having different maps for the Dry Valley Mesas, it’s important to note that one direct for one player to find the desert biome won’t be the same for you.
