What are Society Medallions in Fortnite? Where to Find Them and What They Do

Here’s everything you need to know about Society Medallions in Fortnite including the locations of where to find them and what they do.

After a longer-than-expected downtime, Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground is finally live and players can jump in to experience everything the new chapter has to offer.

A new map, Battle Pass, loot pool, movement mechanics, and three new game modes have started the new chapter off on the right foot.

Augments will be making a return along with bosses and mythic items. Bosses now drop Society Medallions.

Here’s everything you need to know about Society Medallions in Fortnite including where to find them and what they do.

What are Fortnite Society Medallions?

Society Medallions in Fortnite are Medallions obtained by defeating one of the five bosses found on the Fortnite chapter 5 map.

Players that find them are wondering what they do. When you keep a Medllion in your inventory, your shield will regenerate over time.

The more Society Medallions in your inventory, the more shield that will regenerate with each tick.

If you have a Society Medallion in your inventory, you will be marked on the opponents’ map. The more social medallions you have, the more precise the radius of your exact location.

What do Society Medallions do in Fortnite

Here’s a little more information on the medallions thanks to Hypex:

Society Medallions Shield Regen

Where to find Society Medallions

When you’re in a game, players can open the map to find where the bosses are. Defeating a boss will provide you with Medallions.

On the map, you’ll see the Medallions marked on the map. Your best bet would be to land at a boss that is furthest away from the Battle Bus route.

Fortnite Assist in Collecting a Society Medallion Location

Open the map when you load into a game and choose which bos you’ll want to try and defeat.

Simply defeat the boss and pick up the medallion to complete the “assist in collecting a society medallion” Fortnite quest.

If you’re doing this with one or more teammates, the challenge will complete as long as you do damage to the boss even if someone else picks up the Medallion from your team.

The first phase of the live event took around parts of the new Lego Fortnite open world map that will be released next week on December 7th, 2023.

Out of the three modes, it appears as though most players are most excited for Lego Fortnite with the new Lego Fortnite account already amassing more than 100,000 followers.

With the reveal of the mode, players have been wondering how Lego Fortnite skins would work and if there will be any Lego skins in the Battle Royale version of Fortnite.

Although it doesn’t seem like that’s a possibility, Epic has confirmed every Fortnite skin will have a Lego style to use in the new game mode.

New Fortnite Map – All Chapter 5 Season 1 Locations

Here’s the first look at the new map for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground.

Fortnite Chapter 4 concluded with the Big Bang event yesterday which saw the OG map being sucked into the Zero Point for the second time.

Since then, there have been multiple issues with the Fortnite and Epic Games servers, but the Fortnite servers are currently down in order to prepare them for the release of the new season.

As expected, data miners are leaking all the new content players can expect to see once the servers are back online.

One of the things players are most looking forward to is the new map, which was leaked a couple of weeks ago.

However, we now have a better look at some of the locations along with an overview of the map that data miners have posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Here’s a look at the map and some of the locations.

Fortnite New Update Today v28.00 (4.08) Early Patch Notes – Chapter 5 Season 1 Underground 3 December 2023

Here are the early patch notes for the new Fortnite v28.00 (4.08) update today. The 3 December 2023 release sees the introduction of Chapter 5 Season 1 Underground.

Epic Games concluded Fortnite chapter 4 with the Big Bang live event. The OG map is no more, but only for a short time.

Epic announced that they broke a new record with over 100 million players playing Fortnite in November.

For that reason, Epic has decided to bring back the Fortnite OG map in 2024. However, there is no official release date for it yet.

With rumors of the second season of chapter 5 launching in March, that seems a likely date for the return of the OG map. It’s unlikely Epic would release in the first season of a new chapter that’ll include a brand new map.

Speaking of Fortnite Chapter 5, leaks from a few weeks ago provided some insight into what players could expect.

We knew there would be racing, music, and Lego game modes released at some point in Chapter 5. However, no one would have expected all three to release in the first season.

During the Big Bang live event, for the first time, Epic revolved the event around everything the new chapter and season of Fortnite has to offer.

Once we were sucked into the Zero Point during the first phase of the live event, players were taken into the Lego Fortnite open world game mode.

Although we don’t have any information in regards to how it’ll work and the mechanics that’ll be in the game mode, we got a good glimpse of the map and we know it’ll be releasing on December 7th, four days after the release of Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground.

The Rocket Racing Fortnite game mode was also featured in the second phase of the live event. The mode has been updated in the game files numerous times over the past few months, and data miners have leaked a lot of the content.

A “garage” lobby tab was leaked that allows you to look at your own Rocket League-owned cars in Fortnite. We’ve also had confirmation car skins will be in the Chapter 5 Season 1 Battle Pass.

The racing game mode will be released one day after the Lego Fortnite game mode, Friday 8th December 2023.

The final game mode, Fortnite Festival, was the third and final phase of the Big Bang live event. The game mode is similar to guitar hero, and it’ll be released on December 9th, 2023.

Aside from the game modes listed above, all of which won’t be released on the same day the v28.00 Fortnite update releases today, here is what else we can expect to see in today’s 4.08 Fortnite update.

C5S1 v28.00 New Season Download File Size

Fortnite 28.00 (4.08) Update Early Patch Notes – 3 December 2023 (12/3/23)

Battle Pass

A new season of Fortnite means a new Battle Pass. Although we don’t know the names of the skins, we do know Peter Griffin will be in this season’s Battle Pass.

Here are all the skins featured in the key art for the new season:

Fortnite v28.00 4.08 Update Today

Weapon Mods / Attachments

Epic Games has been working on weapon mods and attachments for three years now. Leaks pointing towards weapon mods and attachments being added to the game first surfaced in December 2020.

They’ll finally be coming to the game with the release of today’s new 4.08 (28.00) Fortnite update.

Players will be able to find and attach magazines, optic sights, muzzles, foregrips, lasers, and more. We don’t have the full list right now, but we’ll be sure to update the below section with every mod and attachment.

Fortnite Weapon Mods Attachments

Wall Climbing / New Movement Mechanics

Both hurdling and wall climbing will be added in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground and will be featured in the launch trailer.

Players will quickly be able to scale walls and other building and structures with ease along with the hurdling feature that was first introduced when Chapter 4 launched but was removed due to several issues.

New Weapons (Loot Pool), Grapple Blade

A new chapter of Fortnite isn’t complete without an overhaul of the loot pool. Epic usually removed the majority of the weapons in the previous chapter and replaced them with new ones.

We don’t have much insight into some of the new items being added apart from the Grapple Blade that was featured in the trailer.

The Grapple Blade works as both a grapple item and a close-ranged item to deal damage to opponents.

New Cars and Lamborghini

Players will now be able to find and use Lamborghinis in Fortnite. The trailer featured the Lamborghinis along with other sports cars, SUVs, and Octanes.

Lamborghini Fortnite

New Map

A new chapter comes with a brand new Fortnite map. Although players will be unhappy that the Fortnite OG map won’t be available until next year, a new map is always welcome.

We got some glimpses of some of the locations we’ll have on the new map, but we don’t have an overview or other images of the Chapter 5 map yet.

We’ll update this article with any new information along with posting the full patch notes once they’re available.

Let us know in the comments section below what you’re most excited about with the release of the 28.00 (4.08) Fortnite update.

Lego Fortnite Sets Open World Map Mode and Rocket Racing Release Dates Confirmed For Chapter 5

Epic Games has confirmed the release dates for the Lego Fortnite Open World map game mode along with the Rocket Racing mode.

Fortnite Chapter 4 concluded with the Big Bang live event which also saw the end of the OG map for at least a couple of months.

With Epic Games posting a record amount of players in November thanks to the Fortnite OG season, they announced on Twitter that the OG map would be returning in 2024.

There’s no official release date planned, but it’s unlikely to come in the first season of Fortnite. With rumors the second season of Chapter 5 will launch in March, that seems like a possible release date for the return of the OG map.

In the meantime, players have the new chapter of Fortnite to look forward to. With major additions including new movement, a new grappling item, item mods, and new game modes, Chapter 5 will likely be the most highly anticipated chapter in some time.

During the Big Bang live event, players got a glimpse at three of the new game modes that’ll be available in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground.

Lego Fortnite, an open-world map, will be available within a week of the new chapter launching along with the Rocket Racing game mode and Fortnite Festival.

Here are the release dates for each of the above game modes.

Fortnite Festival Release Date

Epic Games stated that the Fortnite Festival game mode will be released on December 9, 2023. We know from the image released with the announcement that The Weeknd will feature in the new game mode.

Thanks to the taste of the game mode we experienced in the live event, we know it’ll be Guitar Hero-esque.

Fortnite Festival Release Date

Rocket Racing Fortnite Game Mode Release Date

We’ve known for a few months that Epic Games has been working on a racing game mode. We also knew it would be released at some stage during chapter 5.

However, after today’s live event, Epic confirmed that the Rocket Racing game mode will release in Fortnite on December 8th, 2023.

Rocket Racing Fortnite Release Date

Lego Fortnite Open World Map Release Date

A few months ago, insiders at Epic Games leaked that Fortnite chapter 4 will end with a Lego-themed season. However, that clearly wasn’t the case with Fortnite OG release at the start of November.

However, a couple of weeks ago, reliable sources stated that there would be a Fortnite x Lego collaboration with the launch of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground.

During the live event, we got to see the Lego Fortnite open world map, and for me, it was the best part of the live event.

After the event, Epic Games retweeted the new Lego Fortnite Twitter account’s post that provided a teaser video for the release of the Lego Fortnite open-world map collaboration.

The Lego Fortnite open-world map has a release date of Thursday, December 7th, 2023.

Is Fortnite Severs Down Right Now? When Can We Play Again Today – 2/3 December 2023

Players are wondering why the Fortnite servers are down right now and when they will be back up again.

Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG concluded recently with the Big Bang live event that featured Eminem, Lego, and a race and music game mode preview.

The event started with similar events occurring to what happened in Chapter 1 Season X event. The rocket that reappeared at Dusty Divot along with the comet was sucked into a rift.

The rocket then hit the zero point at Loot Lake in the same way it did in the Season X Black Hole live event. The map was sucked into the zero point and players then flew around the new Lego open-world game mode that’ll be launching in a few days.

Players then got to experience the previously leaked racing game mode that’ll feature rocket league-looking vehicles.

The event concluded with the Eminem concert which again previewed another upcoming game mode similar to Guitar Hero where players need to hit the right guitar chords on time.

The event quickly concluded, and players are now waiting for the new season to launch.

However, there have been queue issues with a large number of players missing the live event. However, Epic has stated there will be two more showings of the event.

The second showing will take place at 5 PM ET and the third will take place at 11 PM ET.

As most avid Fortnite players would have already seen, the Battle Pass for Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground was leaked early. Earlier today, the trailer for the new season was also leaked.

That led to Epic Games posting the trailer earlier than they would have wanted due to the trailer showing a number of new features coming to the game.

Although we already knew what was coming thanks to all the leaks we’ve had over the previous few weeks, Epic have confirmed most of them.

A train will feature on the new map and a capture the train mode will be available. That section of the trailer also features a shield that can be used on the go.

After almost three years after initially being leaked, mods have also been confirmed with iron sights, mags, and barrel mods being teased.

Changes to movement are also coming with the launch of Chapter 5 including wall clambering. Players can also jump over obstacles and windows much more easily than previously.

A Grapple blade will also be part of the loot pool for the new season. It’ll act similarly to the grapple gun but will also have the ability to deal damage to players in combat.

Here’s the full trailer for those that haven’t seen it yet:

Although we have all that to look forward to, players are wondering why the Fortnite servers are down right now on 2 December 2023 and when they will be back online.

Here’s everything we know about the Fortnite servers and their current status on December 2nd, 2023.

Are Fortnite Servers Down Right Now? (12/2/23) 2nd/3rd December 2023

The Fortnite servers are currently down on 2nd December 2023 / 3rd December 2023.

After the live event, the game has been inaccessible with players stuck in an hour-and-a-half queue. Even when reaching the end of the queue time, players will then see a message stating there’s an error with the Fortnite servers.

When Will the Fortnite Servers Be Back Up?

With Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground launching on December 3, 2023, we know that the Fortnite servers will be back online on 3rd December.

However, with Fortnite servers officially going offline at 11:30 PM EST after the final showing of the live event, it’s unlikely they’ll be back up any time soon.

However, with two more show times for the live event, there’s a chance players can access the lobby and log in to witness the event at 5 PM ET and 11 PM ET.

Aside from that, It’s likely the Fortnite servers won’t be back up until roughly 7 AM EST on December 3rd.

We’ll update you on the current server status below.
